I know bluetooth is popular but most computers i know of don't come with a bluetooth adapter installed. SO why are there a whole bunch of included programs and services for bluetooth?

Why does ubuntu include so much about bluetooth?

I haven't done much range testing with it, but it seems to work at the minimum 10m at least. It also works with the Wiimote (I tried it). It will work in Windows with no drivers as well, so that should give you an idea of how generic/ common it is.
