I apologize if this has already been answered but I've been searching for forums for a few days now and I'm not clear on what the big deal is with muting the stereo on Lexus cars. I know there's an amp but why are some installers refusing to install BT kits on Lexus'?

The resistance scared me so that, I bought a quickconnect harness for my wifes 03 Lexus ES300 because we didn't want to cut any of the wires in the car. But I had to run my own separate speaker. That kinda sucked but the system does work great.

So, my questions are, is there a phone connector in the IS models (if so, where's it located)? If so, what connections does it have (ie speaker, mute, ect)? Also, is a relay circuit necessary to install this kit to a Lexus if there's no phone connection? If there is a phone connection, I'm assuming it should be straight forward. Basically, I'm conserned about the muting and whether it's really necessary to spend another $60 on a quickconnect harness. If I can find a mute cable on the radio, I should just be able to connect the mute cable from the Parrot kit to the radio and not worry about a relay circuit, right? I'm not afraid to pull appart the interior to run wires, I just don't want to blow up the system.

What year is your ES? What radio does it have?

As far as I know there are no Telephone Inputs on Lexus radios, including IS.
