Dual-core processor, thats a given since 95% of retail laptops are them. Your looking for a laptop processor with 2.0Ghz+ of processing power. Most games + vista will run really well with the 2.0Ghz processor.

RAM, with vista get atleast 2.0Gb, mainly because you need enough to run alot of programs at one without running out of resources.

Videocard, Intel X1300 and the other integrated intel chips are horrible and provide little to none graphical support. Look for Nvidia Geforce 6150 Go or Geforce 8400GS. These are good cards that allow alot of game support. Also ATI offers some good ones aswell, ATI radeon 2400HD (i think thats the name).

Speakers, not a biggie but some laptops like toshiba or acer offers Harmon-Karmon and Dolby speakers which are really good quality integrated speakers.

With the build I just revised for you, photo/video editing will be smooth and quick as well as burning and ripping. A am currently using a 2.0Ghz Intel Core2Duo with 2Gb and 8600Gt card and it everything I needed and more.
