    Hey guys, this looks like a great forum that can offer me some help.

    A buddy of mine is selling me his package, a 10w7 and 500/1 JL amp for $430...

    But i was wondering If I could use my current amp, which is a different brand/cheap.

    It is the legacy 1000 watt red series two.

    Here are the specs

    * 1000W High Power 2 Channel Bridgeable Amplifier
    * 500W x 2 Channel Power Output
    * 1000W x 1 Bridged Power Output
    * 2 Ohm Stereo Stable Bridgeable into 4 Ohms
    * Polished Chrome Finish with Plexiglas Panel
    * Remote Control Bass Boost (0-+1808 @ 60Hz)
    * Fully Adjustable Electronic Crossover Network
    * Soft Turn On/Off Circuit
    * MOSFET PWM Power Supplies
    * Variable Gain Control

    My question is...Can I just max out this amp and run it on the W7? I know it isnt 1000w, but what do you think?

    Worst case senario is that i buy the the 500/1 amp from him as well....I was just wondering if I could run this for now maybe?

    Well I don't know the model of the legacy, but i bet it is only stable at 4 ohms when bridge, and probably don't put out a 1000 watts rms either that is probably a max rating., and the voicecoil on that sub is 3 ohms, so the amp would more than likely get hot and shut down alot. Your best bet is to buy the package deal, which is a good deal if the equipment hasn't been abused, that amp and sub was designed to go together.
