I want to connect my iPod to a head unit, but I want to be able to control my music from my iPod. I don't want to control my iPod from the head unit.

its not possible at the moment with the ipod because most users dont have a mic on the ipod but its because the touch doesnt have a mic like the iphone so no you cant right now. Im sure in a couple months there will be a develper that will come out with than but until than patience is a must!

there are diagrams online... I dunno how easy or hard it would be but you can look into just opening it up and seeing why the hold button is stuck. Unless i missunderstood what you were getting at, that's all I got. Good luck
