The CD player skips when the car is very cold, about 50 degrees, and when its hot, about 90 degrees.

CD Player skips when car is Hot or cold

If the temperature is mild during the day and really cold at night, the discs or the laser may be collecting some condensation over night. This may cause them to skip a bit. I'm not sure about the "very hot" though.
