Hey folks. I have recently purchased a 1987 Chevy Cavalier. I'm looking at swapping out the factory tape deck with a CD Player. I'm wondering what CD Player would fit in it (if any), and if they make a cage to support the CD Player in the opening. I have a Pioneer DEH-1000 CD Player, but it's too deep to fit properly in the stereo console without taking apart the entire dash board and removing the vents (which I really don't want to do). And if you could suggest a speaker set that would sound good with the CD Player.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

You need to get an install kit for your car. Many of them are designed to set the radio out up to an inch (it will still be a tight fit)

For speakers, you need a pair of 3.5" and a pair of 6x9's. If you are going to push them with your deck, you can go with Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony, etc. It all really depends on your budget.
