Okay so I want to put a sound system in my car and I have no idea what I'm doing. I have a 2001 Chevy Malibu.

I know I probably want 2 10" subs, a rockford fosgate amp, i'm getting all 4 of my speakers replaced and i'm looking to put in a new cd deck with ipod dock.

what I want to know is this.
should I be getting a mono amp? or a 4-channel one? what's the difference?
also, does it matter what subs I get? How do I pair my subs with the rockford?
do I need all the wires and stuff even if I'm taking it to a dealership and not installing it myself?

I know it's a lot of questions but I need some advice. Any brands you would NOT recommend?

    Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

What type of music do you listen to?
Different woofers are better at playing different frequencies better than others. I can recommend certain models for different types of music.

You want a 2ch amp for the 2 woofers.
A 4ch amp for the 4 speakers (get it?).

Yes, you will need to buy two amp wiring kits and give it to the installer.

Rockford is good stuff, you can just stick to Rockford subs and amps if you'd like. There are tons of good companies out there though, I especially like Kicker woofers/amps!

Just be sure, that the constant/rms power ratings of the amp to each channel is at or under what the woofers constant/rms power ratings are.

Hey Jayden, about the bridging thing.
You can only do that, if you have a multi-channel amp, and only one woofer.
If you have a 2ch amp, and two woofers, no bridging can/needs to be done.
It is when the positive of one channel and negative of another channel is connected to the woofer. So the woofer is "bridged" across both channels.
