Wireless communication is the transfer of information over a distance without the use of electrical conductors or "wires".[1] The distances involved may be short (a few meters as in television remote control) or long (thousands or millions of kilometers for radio communications). When the context is clear, the term is often shortened to "wireless". Wireless communication is generally considered to be a branch of telecommunications.

Bluetooth is an open wireless protocol for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks (PANs). It was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS232 data cables. It can connect several devices, overcoming problems of synchronization.

Most Bluetooth devices are version 1.2, and version 2.0 is becoming popular. Most Bluetooth chips on the market are backward compatible wherelse Wi-Fi is a short range wireless communications technology using 2.4B bandwidth in the IEEE 802.11 family covering 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n.

    Hi

I'm looking at buying an Ipaq 5550 however I don't understand the difference
between Bluetooth and wireless (I know the 5550 has got both). Anyone able
to explain the difference between them for me or point me in the direction
of a useful website? Primarily, I'll use one of the technologies to be able
to surf whilst at home and I need to know if I'll use Bluetooth or wireless.

    Thanks[s]]puvi
