I have a few questions, and would be very appreciative if some one can help.

If I install an aftermarket head unit with navigation, is there anyway to show the GPS instructions on the OBC (i.e. by the speedometer etc) and what adapter will I need to get to allow multifunction steering wheel control of the head unit?

Similarly, will the head unit have to be particular dimensions for it to fit?

OK, i have done many gps installs on w209 clk's.

Things that i have found are:
The OBC screen will no longer display anything about the radio. (radio stations, cd track, nav guidance, ect)

The steering wheel controls can be retained using a SWI-CAN module from PAC. Along withthe SWI-CAN you need a radio specific module.
    ex.
swi-jack for JVC, Alpine, Clarion and Kenwood
    swi-ps for pioneer and sony
swi-x universal, works with any stereo that has a remote

Metra makes a dash kit that will take a double din nav. The 04 uses part number: 99-8711, the 05 and up uses the 99-8712

If you have the fiberoptic system, you will not be able to retain the stock amp. you will need another amp and crossovers for the front speakers.

Thanks for the idea. I've been thinking of that but didn't have any idea to do so, nor that someone has, tried and trying it. Thanks.

Gee... Sounds like a lot of work. Seems to be worth it too though.
