So if i read correctly, stock head units in mkv's are very different from stock head units of past and apparently a regular harness won't do if i wanna replace the head unit with an aftermarket one. crutchfield is telling me to spend like $70 for this http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1...=3486 .. what's going on in that little box that i need to pay so much for? what is it compensating for? even if i did settle paying for that box i lose steering wheel controls. if i want those back i'd have to spend another $70 for this?: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1...avf=N i don't even know that piece seems confusing..
anyway what i'm trying to get at is there must be an easier way to connect up an aftermarket headunit.. what is the standard solution you guys use? is there a non-overpriced way for me to be able to use an aftermarket head unit and have steering wheel controls remain functional? thanks
