If it's not going into a thermal protection mode, producing smoke, or a burning smell, then it's probably normal. Keep in mind that a typical multi-channel amp is only about 50-60% efficient. That means that only about half the power it pulls from the vehicle's charging system gets turned into power output to the speakers. The rest is converted to heat.
