Nissan iPod / MP3 Interface Review USA Spec PA11-NIS

The USA Spec PA11-NIS is a good iPod/MP3 interface for select Nissan vehicles. It controls the iPod extremely well, and like all USA Spec iPod adapters, it allows you to use direct mode to choose songs both from the iPod and the radio. The only downfall to this unit is that it does not work with any external devices, so if you have factory satellite radio, DVD, external cd changer, or Bluetooth, they will have to be disconnected for the PA11-NIS
to work. Most people do not want to give that up, so if you have those external devices I recommend using the PAC AAI-NIS2. The AAI-NIS2 will give you an aux in and you will have full control from your iPod, plus you can keep all your external devices.
The PA11-NIS is compatible to:
1999-2001 Nissan Altima iPod / MP3 Interface(double din radio w/ cd/chg button only)
1999-2001 Nissan Frontier iPod / MP3 Interface (double din radio w/ cd/chg button only)
1999-2006 Nissan Maxima iPod / MP3 Interface
2005-2006 Murano iPod / MP3 Interface (radio must have cd changer control)
1999-2001 Nissan Pathfinder iPod / MP3 Interface
2004-2007 Nissan 350Z iPod / MP3 Interface
1999-2006 Nissan Sentra iPod / MP3 Interface (99-00 double din radio w/ cd/chg button only)
1999-2001 Nissan Xtera iPod / MP3 Interface (not compatible with Rockford radio)
· PA11 NIS is not compatible with satellite radio, DVD, external cd changer,
or Bluetooth. Sat Radio must be disconnected for unit to work.
This unit is extremely simple to install. The hardest part is removing the radio. The instructions are easy to follow. It is completely “Plug and Play” and Installation in most of the vehicles takes less then 30 minutes. Once installed it has very good functionality. You can choose from two modes, Direct Mode and Hybrid Mode. Plus it also has a RCA style AUX input.
Direct Mode gives you complete control of your entire iPod while it is connected to the factory radio. The iPod is not locked out while connected to the radio you are able to manually access your complete iPod content. The radio still can adjust song up/down random or shuffle play, but you can manually control your iPod and select any playlist, genre or Artist of your choice.
Hybrid Mode allows you to create up to 5 favorite mobile playlist then use the radio’s CD changer controls to access and control your playlist. If no play list is created, the interface auto selects first 5 playlists on iPod. Create and access your favorite mobile playlist or directly access all your iPod’s content manually on your iPod. iPod displays song title information and iPod is not locked, so the iPod can be operated manually at all times.
The USA Spec Nissan interface is a great product. It allows control of your iPod from the factory radio, as well as control from the iPod. I have installed many of these interfaces in many different Nissans with good results. Since they allow direct control from the iPod, you can access your whole iPod no matter how many songs you have. Just remember, if you have any external devices in your vehicle, you will need to disconnect them in order for this adapter to work.

I have a 2007 Nissan Sentra, and had the XM module professionally installed (factory radio remains installed). Is there any interface device that allows me to have control of my iPod through my factory radio, leaving the XM radio as well?
